Do you use hashtags?

Summer 2020 we started being encouraged to use hashtags in our Facebook posts. Hashtags never looked right in Facebook, they were more a Twitter and Instagram thing, however Facebook now encourage the use of them.

The suggestion is that you only use 3-5 hashtags and don’t drown your Facebook posts with them, but test them out and see which ones seem to work for you. #hottip HOT TIP from Mari Smith: Consider going back through some of your best performing Facebook posts and ADD hashtags! PLUS, be sure to add a comment and see if some of your friends/fans can add a comment, too. This activates Facebook’s “Story Bump” algorithm introduced on August 6th, 2013 and could help more people discover your content easier, especially video posts.

But what about your Instagram hashtags? You can have up to 30 on a posts, and 10 on a story and you should use a combination of popular and niche hashtags in your posts. You don’t have to use them all, the consensus is about 11 is enough.

You can make a note in your Notes of all your hashtags and select some of them based on the content you are sharing. It is not recommended to use repetitive hashtags and important that the hashtags you use to make sense in your post.
